Fairview - La Beryl Blanc 2016

South Africa - Intense tropical fruit notes develop into delicate spices on the nose. Sultanas and lychees linger on the palate with warming cinnamon and red apple. The mouthfeel is velvety and rich, and silky sweetness is elegantly tempered by a clean, refreshingfinish.

Vondeling - Sweet Carolyn 2017

South Africa - The wine displays a golden to light amber colour. It has a perfumed nose of bright pineapple, ripe apricot, honeyed marmalade and seductive rose petal. These heady aromas are supported by orange blossom, jasmine and wild rosemary. The nose carries through to the taste, where the mouth-watering sweetness is cut by a tangy acidity, which ensures a persistent and refreshing finish. This is a naturally fermented and unfortified wine and allows for many delightful treats, which may incl. savoury duck liver pate, sweet spice-laced puddings and traditional soft cheeses. Serve chilled and dont wait for dessert.

Klein Constantia - Vin de Constance 2015

South Africa - Even better than the 2014 release - and that was a spectacular sweet wine - the 2015 Vin de Constance is one of the greatest ever vintages of this iconic sticky. More Barsac than Sauternes in terms of weight, its fresh and refined, a bit like the 2012, with citrus and orange zest balancing the 172 grams of sugar. The oak is perfectly judged, the length and freshness things of wonder. 2019-30 Tim Atkins 2018 South Africa Report. Unlike many of the great sweet wines of the world, Vin de Constance is not made from grapes affected by noble rot, but is made from 100% Muscat de Frontignan which ripens fully and then raisins on the vine to give juice with intense concentration and flavour. Harvest takes months, harvesting more than 15 different batches at different levels of ripeness, and the grapes are meticulously selected. Rich and generous, with definition and expression, it is clear to see why this is considered one of the benchmarks for sweet wine from around the world.
